The Bottom Line:
Do not purchase sirius radio service. Avoid it like the way overpriced racket it is. SIRIUS Satellite Radio is a scam.
Fee for 1 year of service sirus is $175.00 for basic subscription only ($15.00 activation on top).
Read very carefully the service provides "commercial free music" only all other channels are commercial filled (badly).
The radio is the smallest part of this purchase.
Beware sirius gift cards can only be used for sirius radio time within one year they are worth nothing at all.
Be further aware sirius gift cards are not refundable, at all, in any way, ever.
I found this out by purchasing a SIRIUS satellite radio for my wife's birthday so she could listen to the comedy channel she had heard free on her flight.
I bought gift cards to activate it so she wouldn't need to pay for the gift I was giving her. The sales lady told me she thought I could reload them online but she was mistaken as I learned.
I activated my wife's new radio using the gift cards only to find out that I would need to pay $75.00 more for a year or the whole lot would only pay for about 5 months of radio (which is a crumby gift) and would have to give a credit card (why I was paying cash and had to buy my own radio why would they need my credit card?) agreed to be billed at my home address for the remaining annual fee.
Got the radio tuned to the correct channel for the comedy all set to take my wife and her mother out for a birthday dinner only to discover that "commercial free" has in fact got really bad long commercials instead of the comedy channels I bought it for. Disappointed cancelled the service in fifteen minutes and returned the radio as useless in the morning. We have plenty of comedy with commercials broadcasting in our area for free already.
Discovered SIRIUS scam: $100.00 in gift cards = $0.00 in value unless used for SIRIUS satellite radio time. No refund, no reload, no transfer to other service, nothing of value. Oh by the way I had bought two $50.00 cards because the clerk thought they could be reloaded and I wanted to start the radio with enough time to make a good birthday present.
Remember that because sirius gift cards have no value once bought unless used for SIRIUS radio service which is worthless for the purpose purchased. Despite long careful requests and discussions with supervisors and managers there is no fix from SIRIUS they stand by their small print and will repeatedly point out that the phrase "100% commercial free music" printed brightly on the box is fair warning that all other channels are commercial filled.
