The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend this product because I have had 2 units with different fatal defects within 6 months under normal usage. Perhaps another brand would provide a sturdier product.
I originally purchased this portable DVD player for my daughter's birthday last October - purchased at a local warehouse (Sam's Club). Within 2 weeks, the screen went bad - the DVD would spin but the screen was all snowy. Luckily, I still had my receipt and the box and the store agreed it was defective and exchanged it for a new one.
As far as I know, we have never dropped the unit or subjected it to any misuse. However, last night, when I turned it on, the screen lights up but now the DVD will not spin - in other words, it will not play (although the screen appears fine).
I no longer have my receipt, so I'm not sure if I will be able to exchange or get a refund, but I am disappointed that this player did not hold up (under normal circumstances) for even 6 months.
I would be wary about purchasing this brand of portable DVD player in light of my experience with 2 malfunctioning units (one with a defective screen and one with a defective playing mechanism) in less than 6 months.
PS I agree with the other reviewers stating that the sound with earphones is superior - not that it's doing me any good right now!!!
