The Bottom Line:
This is an excellent microphone stand. It has never let me down. The quality is great.
Before I bought my Atlas Heavy duty Round Base Microphone Chrome Stand, I did a lot of comparing stands and their price. There are various brands, and many different prices. This stand did cost me a little more money, but I felt it was worth the extra money. I bought this stand so people would be able to hear my guitar.
Description
The Atlas stand is very sturdy. The stand is all Chrome, except for the base. The stand is made out of steel tubing with a chrome finish. The stand weights about 13 1/2 pounds. The black base is about 12 inches in diameter. The base is made out of cast iron, and is finished in ebony epoxy. What I like best about this stand is it is very hard to be knocked over. There are three one inch in diameter feet on the bottom of the stand. The feet are about 1/4 inch in height. The feet are made out of black rubber.
The stand can extend all the way to over 5 feet.
This stand can be used by a big giant man or woman, or a short lady like me. I can bring the stand down to 3 foot which is a perfect height for me. The stand has a knureilized chrome retainer nut. There is a friction ring inside of the knurelized nut that tightens down on the friction ring to lock the inner shaft at the desired height. The clutch prevents slippage. This is another great feature to the stand verses the cheaper one.
The Atlas Ms20 Round Base Microphone Stand, can be purchased on line at Gearnuts.com for around $79.00. You can also look at your local music store. The stand was made in China.
Experience
I have had cheaper made microphone stands, that ended up on the floor. When the kids perform I make sure I use this stand. It has always given me the confidence I need to know the stand stays in place.
Overall, I would recommend the Atlas Ms20 Microphone Stand. I found it to be made of excellent quality material.
