Summer Breeze - Makes Me Feel Fine!
Pros
Strong air flow, quiet, sturdy plastic construction.
Cons
Gets dirty pretty easily (although not really a fault of the fan).

The Bottom Line:
Now everyone at the office is getting fans!
Phew! Is it ever hot outside! I can't understand why so many people love the summer so much. I can't take the heat. Oh well, at least I can take advantage of having the office to myself during several weeks out of the summer while everyone is going on vacation! I sit in my office with the AC cranked up and turn on a small fan to spread the cool air around. Ahhh! That's what I like! A cool breeze!
The fan inside my office is none other than an Atlantic Breeze 12" Table Fan. I picked it up at the end of the season, two years ago at Walmart. (The end of Summer is the best time to buy a fan to get a great price since the prices are marked down over 50%). The fan cost about $10 on sale which is a good deal (it normally costs about $20).
As with most mass manufactured items, this fan was made in China. Don't let the Atlantic name fool you! It is mostly made up of plastic parts except for the motor and the grill, which is made of metal. The fan is rather light but it does deliver a powerful stream of air. It has three speeds: Low, Medium and High (duh!). When placed on the low speed, it is very difficult to hear the motor running. The fan also has a button that when it is depressed, the fan will oscillate back and forth. I do not use the oscillating feature as I find it to be annoying. I like the fan to blow just past me at high speed so I feel the residual cooling affect of air moving past me. Ahhh!
The fan also has a rather standard length electric cord that plugs into a standard 110 Volt AC outlet. The buttons that control the speed settings are all located at the base of the unit and they are very logically laid out. The fan measures about 12" in diameter (blade length).
My office is fairly clean and we have a cleaning service that comes each week to vacuum the office and dust and wipe down desks and shelves. Even with that, the fan has managed to collect a lot of dirt on the blades. I had cleaned off the blades once before, but they are once again dirty. I can visually see the air quality in my office space! Nevertheless, the fan blades and guard are easy to clean. Simply unfasten some clips that hold the guard in place, remove the center nut to remove the blade, then wash these items down in a sink. Dry, and reassemble. It is easy to do!
I have several other fans as well, and I see few differences from one fan to the other. One is not much better than the other - they are all basically the same and they all do a fine job at blowing air. I do like the fact that this fan is white though opposed to some of those black plastic fans being sold. It looks cleaner and cooler.
All and all, I would recommend this Atlantic Breeze fan. I don't think it is worth $20 though. I only use it when I am feeling a bit warm at the office or if the air gets stagnant. Also, the competition fans were very much similar and I would have been equally happy with one of those fans. Thanks for reading my review and best wishes for a nice (cool) day!
