Athena AS-P400 Subwoofer Speaker

I originally bought this sub about 1 year ago for parties at my house. While in college I wanted a high powered sub while still staying below $500. For my music listening (mostly R&B and Rap) it was wonderful. It wasn't until I upgraded my entire system that I realized how nice this sub actually was. After spending $4,000 on a new receiver and surround speaker set-up, I thought that I would need to purchase a new sub to fit in. I bought a new infinity sub for around $1,000 and although I could instantly notice a difference, it was not enough to justify the extra $750 (I bought the Athena on sale for $250). I would recommend this sub for anyone looking to add tight bass to a mid-priced home system. The driver sometimes has trouble pushing the low frequencies (below 30 hz) but anything higher than that sounds very tight and responsive. I really can't complain and with the new box that they have put on this sub (check your local Athena dealer) I personally think it looks even better. As I said before a great buy for the money, I don't think you will find a better sounding sub in the sub-$500.
