Intriguing and fun
Pros
magic, land, setting, world alterations
Cons
too strong of archers, monster variety
Recommended it?
Yes
I found this game to be fairly intriguing. As a member of the beta test I experienced the glitches and the power first hand. The spell system, as touting, is awesome. There have been complaints that spells are too weak, and that the global mana pool is a good "idea" but bad in actual use, but I disagree and like the fact that magic doesn't rule. Archers do, however, and that disturbed me a little bit. I felt the archers were a little too powerful, but perhaps it was just me. The monsters were plentiful, but get boring if you stay in one place too long.
There's the usual quests and battles to be fought, but what takes the cake in Asheron's Call is the real time world alterations as depicted and played out in the Beta Test's final days. I became addicted to Asheron's Call, wanting to explore areas where my characters were too weak to go.
Overall, I say this game is fun, and entertaining. Even if you have to have well developed characters to do the impossible things. Wow, a game with reality!
