Lets start off by saying, I used to play Ultima Online, which is why after I quit Ultima, I saught another online "rpg".
You may think the reasons I bash this game are unfair... but this IS my review after all...
In Asheron's Call, you start an adventurer, (This goes by the level system) meet a patron (someone who will support your newbie), and get started in this magnificent world of adventure. The world is quite big, especially rated to Ultima standards, most of it is DIFFERENT which is an entirely new term when compared to Ultima Online. This game has MANY many dongeuns, citys, and places of interest. This game even has a STORY LINE. In fact, a few citys were just blown up in coordination with the storyline, they also added NEW species of enemies, NOT just a color change and a new name. (Ultima ring a bell?) If your looking for an online game that actually changes, this is it. The team (Turbine) adds weapons, quests, and other trinkets oftenly. Also this game has a wide variety of spells, weapons, armor, and other things. A high skill in RUN is very helpful and it actually does effect the speed of running, unlike other online rpgs which have NO run skill, in which everything is the same speed. The AI is above average.
Now time for my few sentences of bashing. This game has too much of a restriction on PVP. YES you can go PK then NON-PK almost whenever you wish. But you DO have to visit a shrine to do so, not the same shrine for each mind you...But for this game this may be the best option, its rather hard to LEVEL UP on the server Darktide because you die constantly. But it is not as bad considering you dont loose all your equipment. Oh well thats my rant.
All in all its a good game and I would advise picking it up unless your waiting for the next wave of Online games. See you there!
