The Bottom Line:
From the looks of it, men need to shave.
I'm not a hairy person, mind you. The only thing that bothers me is my little unibrow. I had always used plucking as an effective --and painful--way of getting rid of those hairs. Now and then, when I'm extremely lazy, I would grab a normal shaver and try to make the best of it. Or do nothing about it at all.
Shaving, the common word among women. It is an easy and fast way of getting rid of hair, however, it comes back with a vengeance: the hair grows back fast and thicker. And Finishing Touch Hair Trimmer was no different.
As I mentioned earlier, unlike most women, I'm not the kind of girl who would go through unnecessary pain and work just to please a man's perspective. Heck, I shave if I feel like it. But since my boyfriend work so hard to annoy me to shave my little "flower" down there and bought Finishing Touch from Walgreens beforehand, I finally gave in. Men can be so kinky in the most stupidest ways.
Normally, I would tell you what the box says about this product. Unfortunately, I threw that away months ago, so I only have the product to work with.
From personal experience, Finishing Touch was very good until after the first use. It is a silver pen-looking shaped thingie, about 5 inches long. The design is very simple: an on/off button on the edge and a giant "Finishing Touch" is written on the rest of the product.
When you remove the cap, you will see the tiny edges of the blades, which is used for shaving. When you turn the product on, the blades immediately moves back and forth so fast that you barely can see the edges move with a naked eye. Now, you would think these blades would hurt, since most shavers DO cuts. Fortunately, it doesn't. The edges are so tiny that it does the cutting of hair, but not strong or able to cut your skin. The blades are about little less than 1 inch long.
So there you go: turn it on, cut the hair, and turn it off. It doesn't make a loud noise and requires a battery.
In addition, along with this product comes this grey "comb" used for shaving eyebrows. It has "short" and "long" on each opposing sides.
All of this only cost about $15, when he bought it.
Now here's the BAD NEWS, you ready?
After the first and perhaps second use, the Finishing Touch broke. When I mean it 'broke', it is not working.
And it is still brandnew! But then again, you can't expect much for something that seems too good to be true. I turn it on and off couple of times, but the blades just won't move.
Luckily, I happen to like fixing things until it is concluded not fixable after my hands-on for 5 minutes. Plus, it can't just die on me! I just got this product. It should live at least a couple of more weeks.
When I open the blades area, lo and behold: a small white plastic thing has came off from the blades. After a short experiment, this is what I figured how this product works, hopefully you can understand what I'm talking about:
There are two blades inside. Between this and another white 'stick' looking thing which moves up and down rapidly (used to makes the blades move), is this small white square thingie. It is supposed to connect the blades with the white stick. However, for some reason, it is loose.
Every time I made it connect, it works! After 5 minutes, it would come off loose again and it stops working. It is not glued and since it's so lightweight and small, it comes off any time. So again, I have to keep opening the blade area and make it connect. All this, just to shave.
In addition, the shave is not clean-cut. It cuts alright, but not all the hair. And if it does cut, it doesn't cut as deep as it should be, leaving you with short, pointy hairs.
My biggest and only doubt of all, is that I don't think this Finishing Touch is good washable. I don't think you can wash the blades very clean even if you try. Sometimes the hair would fall into the rest of the product. You cannot get rid of those unless you wash it out, meaning you basically destroyed Finishing Touch. Water and electronics do not mix, people!
Oh yea, and there's the comb. I never used the comb. I do not even know how to use it. It is too large to comb anyone's eye brow, not to mention in the way if you are trying to shave your eye brow. So I do what I naturally do best with things that are inevitably useless: throw it away.
This product is definitely not dependable. It stops working easily, and it's just a fuss trying to make it work again. In addition, it doesn't cut clean as I mentioned earlier.
If you still want this product, go ahead. I'm sure you can now find this in K-Mart for about $6. However, make sure you use your plucker. You will need it.
**P.S. Do not buy products that uses tape (not wax) for easy-removal. It really does not work.
