Aroma Housewares ARC-717-1NGR 7-Cup Rice Cooker

The number on our instruction manual is ARC-727-1NG; however, the specs for the 717 and the photo seem exactly like ours.

We did not know what to expect when we bought this because we had no experience with a rice cooker. Wow, how our rice improved! For about a year and a half, we have used it frequently, both for rice and for steaming, with mostly superb results.

HOWEVER, it has been temperamental for two or three months. Much of the time, it works without a hitch. At other times, it shuts off (goes to warm) randomly at any unpredictable point in the cooking process. Sometimes it refuses to go on at all; the button just pops right back up when we push it down! We don't know whether to count on it. When it is good, it is VERY good.

We think we have followed cooking and cleaning instructions throughout. Now, we don't know whether to replace this cooker, to move to another brand, or to spend more money on what we hope will be a more stable Aroma. The situation is very frustrating because we like the cooker so much.
