Archos JukeBox Studio (6 GB) MP3 Player

When I first got the Archos Jukebox 6000, I thought I had it made. Here was a portable unit which would essentially make my whole music collection portable. It was sleek, small with a good amount of heft to it that I was confident would make it a strong, reliable piece of machinery. Boy, was I wrong. I should have gotten suspicious when the software would not load easily onto my desktop computer. Because of this alone, the job of loading .mp3 files took forever because I had to tranfer them to a Zip disk then load them from my laptop. Took about 3 hours total to complete a 15 minute task. But the kicker was after all of that, I was in the middle of listening to a particularly favorite song of mine when it just froze. The LCD screen was filled with a disturbing mess of hieroglyphs that I knew could not be good. I didn't drop it, abuse it or hurt this player in any way. I was away from home at the time so I just thought that I could connect it to the laptop to fix any glitch. Needless to say, it was beyond repair. I then was only able to get the introductory software message and felt a small, gentle hum of the spinning hard drive. No music though. I tried every troubleshooting method that was suggested on the website as well as in the instructions but to no avail. I hastily gathered up the packaging and returned it to the place where I bought it, not two weeks after I purchased it. The salesperson saw the look on my face and just took the unit and asked me if i wanted a refund or an exchange. I then selected the Creative Nomad Jukebox and I haven't looked back since.
