If you bought this unit to use it while you jog/run, return it

Pros 6 gigs for $250 sounds great eh? rechargeable batteries
Cons Skips, Heavy, Skips, hard to operate, Skips, battery compartments
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  This is not an MP3 player that will keep up with you while jogging or running, look for a flashbased MP3 player.
My wife and I went to Best Buy to purchase an MP3 player. She was not familiar with them and I only had somewhat of an understanding of them. I download them and play them on my PC and that's about it. I do know about the rates and the hissing so I knew what I was looking for. We saw the 128megs, 64megs and of course the big boys at 6gig, these were very appealing due to the size so we focused on these and decided on the Archos over the Nomad. Setup was easy (must follow instructions exactly). I works with MusicMatch which I thought was nice although a lot of people prefer the Windows MediaPlayer. It was easy to move my files to it and easy to get playlists as well. Everything was gong well until we tested it for skipping. I picked it up and shook it up and down (not very hard) and nothing, shook it with the same force for a little longer (close to a minute) and it skipped twice. We did not think much of it but were surprised since we thought MP3 players did not skip at all (figured the unit had RAM it would load music to and play it from there but that is not the case). My wife takes it for a jog the next morning and comes back very disappointed that it skipped a lot so we are going to return it. We will look at a smaller 128meg flash based player since (after some research found out that) those tend to skip less (if at all).

Almost forgot to mention batteries, nice that they are rechargeable and they recharge in unit itself (comes with 8 batteries, unit uses 4) but getting to these batteries is difficult and you will most likely scratch the unit so be careful.
