Yes
The Bottom Line:
Price, Size, Capacity, Form Factor - Its a little hard to beat this player.
After having a failed experience with a Yepp mp3 player, I decided to take a step up and go for a jukebox product.
No regrets. The archos came in at the right price, the right size and the right software! At $320 with a $75 mail in rebate, it is a little hard to argue a case against 6GB
in the size of two palm pilots stuck back to back.
Installing the player was peice of pie - turn it on, plug it in. Updating the firmware is just as easy, just download the patch and the instal utility, no hassles. The player also comes with MusicMatch 5, which after installing allows you to download the newest version (6.0) with no hassles other than the wait due to a 56K modem. This software is so superior to RealNetworks Jukebox - which used to crash every 2 or 3 CD's for me - I ran out of time in the day before I needed a re-boot.
The downsides? USB is a little slow, shame there is no firewire transfer option. The headphones are quite up to scratch and adjusting the volume is a pain - it is within the menuing system. A remote volume slider on the headphones would make life much more easier, as would the missing remote control (available mid 2001 as noted by the addendum in the manual).
Overall, this player is tops. I wish I'd gotten one sooner.
