Archos JukeBox Studio (6 GB) MP3 Player

I have long waited for the price of this product to go down, but when I got it two days ago it would not function. The price I got was 199.00 with a $20 rebate from Best Buy. When I got home I started reading the manual to be sure all instructions are follow when I hook it up to my computer. I followed the exact instruction from the manual and hooked it up to my computer. My computer wouldn't detect it to I read the "system requirement part" and it said I needed win98SE or win2000, so I went I upgraded by operating system the next day. All the while I have been trying to get the Jukebox to turn on. At first I thought the battery wasn't fully charged, and so I hooked it up to the AC adapter and it said "Battery charging..." it went on for 12 hours; when the manual says it only takes 6 hours. The manual say to hold the "on" button for 2-seconds while the online help says 5-6 seconds. I called the company, which is located in Irvine, CA, to my surprise the number 1-800-559-3605 was "disconnected and no further instruction is available" said the operator. I noticed that the same number was listed for the other 8-10 languages. I agree with the other opinion(s) that would not recommend this product because I experienced the same problem, except I never got to use it. I had to hold down the on button until the its fully booted... 1st the "Jukebox 4.54 ver" screen popped up 2nd the "update ver 4.54" then "6 gig mp3". the item did not work. No 1-800 help line. Do Not buy it from online auction, you can't return it.
