Archaeology Magazine

Is this a good magazine for the serious, scholarly archaeological professional? I have no idea. I'm just someone who is fascinated, sometimes obsessed, by sleuthing into the past, but who will probably never come closer to a dig than the pages of this magazine.

Thanks to Archaeology, my amateur longings are satisfied with reliable information relayed in an accessible format. Archaeology is sometimes fun, always inquisitive, but never fluffy. I read the entire issue in one sitting and always walk away a little wiser, with a few more opinions. Unlike television documentaries, I feel confident that anything I learn in Archaeology has been reliably researched with controversies noted.

Everyone mentions the gorgeous photos. As I walk away from my mailbox, looking at the cover, I find myself anticipating the time when I can sit down with the issue. The impact of the beautiful covers is always continued through the magazine, every article accompanied by lush photography.
