The Bottom Line:
Don't even think of taking it to the gym!
I've gone through a few portable music players in my days. I thought I found a winner with the Shuffle, but am really let down with it's inability to handle a little perspiration. Apple shows people working out with their Shuffles in their advertisments, and that's exactly what I've been doing. Within 30 days of purchase, the unit started shutting down after just a couple of hours of use. I contacted an Apple Rep about it and set up a replacement for a warranty service. The Rep asked me about colors inside the ear piece and told him it was black and silver. I detected a little bit of pink, but had to really look at it to even mention it. I received a replacement and looked inside this one as well, and didn't see any pink. So, I'm waiting to send my personal one in and after looking at some internet chatter, I see, pink is not good and it means it is water damage. I'm thinking, what water damage! When I send this in, will Apple say I've placed it in water? I work out and sweat a bit, but I know the difference between sweating and really sweating. There is no way, 20 minutes of spinning on a stationary cycle should have affected the Shuffle. I now firmly believe this product is not good for working out. It is mainly good for lying in bed and listening to music. It's a shame, such a nice little product is not able to do what is advertised.
