Several years later, still works great!

Pros Big sound in a small package for a great price.  Awesome!
Cons Original earbuds died pretty quickly.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  My bottom line: big sound in a small package that lasts forever - all for a great price!
I sometimes take public transportation to work and if you are like me, you find the people on the bus with you are pretty annoying.  Without fail when I am on there the person with the crying baby or the jerk yelling into his or her cell phone shows up.  Situations like these call for the drowning out of all sound around you.  A few years ago I did something about it - I purchased the Apple iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation in Purple.  3 years later, the mighty little Shuffle is still going strong.

I purchased mine with 1 GB of memory (I believe the Apple Store sold 2 GB iPods, as well) for $50 from a big-name chain electronics store.  My purchase came with the Shuffle, Apple's trademark earbuds, and the charger.  The 1 GB Shuffle holds an approximately 250 songs, which is amazing especially when you consider how tiny this Shuffle is!  The Shuffle is physically about the size of a 50-cent piece.

While tiny, the Shuffle packs a big, clear, awesome sound.  I was honestly amazed by the sound quality of this thing.  Maybe I'm just technologically ignorant, but it's so tiny I wasn't expecting much in the way of sound or memory and have been very pleasantly surprised!

As I stated, mine is a couple years old and still going strong.  My iPod works 10 hour days right along with me - I charge it using my desktop every night before work, and the charge makes it through the entire workday.  I will warn, my original earbuds did burn out within a few months, but perhaps I just had a defective pair.  I bought another (different brand) set of earbuds, and the Shuffle still sounds great!  (Note - this Shuffle pairs nicely with JVC's over-the-ear headphones.  No clue on the model of earbuds I have, it's an earbud with a plastic piece that goes over your ear to help hold them in place.  Mine are black and sparkly, if that helps!)

The "Shuffle" aspect might be off-putting for some, because this Shuffe does NOT have a screen, but let me assure you that I have no problem finding a song if I am in the mood to hear a specific something.  Tip: know how your playlist is loaded into the Shuffle (for example, mine is alphabetically by song title).  Make use of the Shuffle's "shuffle" feature and scroll through until it picks a song close to what you want.  Then switch it the feature that just cycles through in order, and surf forward or backward til you find your song.  It never takes me very long to find a specific tune using this method!
