The Best For A Music Addict

Pros All of my music in one place.
Cons Shake to shuffle doesn't always work.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:

Any music addict will love the new nano, being one myself I recommend it.

Why I Got It

I've owned an iPod for four years and was very satisfied with the purchase. Despite the warnings that dropping it too much will break it or it's a one drop deal, I had dropped it several times being the accident prone person I am and it still worked perfectly. The iPod, in my opinion, is one of the best inventions ever made. It puts all of my music in one little device, allowing me to take it anywhere and everywhere. This is why I was highly upset when the battery no longer held a charge for more than five minutes at the most. My mom bought the new iPod nano for me for Christmas. I was utterly thrilled to have my music back again and immediately downloaded all of my music onto it.

The new nano, thus far, has worked very well for me. It has several new features and even games, which was a nice surprise.

The Nano

The picture on the screen is utterly amazing. I imagine that videos would look fantastic on this little screen because of how clear and bright the image comes out. The album pictures are more prominent than before and even have details I didn't notice on my other iPod.

The nano has a new feature that allows you to shuffle to the next song if you shake it. Although I find myself having trouble getting the feature to work sometimes, having shaken it and gave up soon after, but other times I can toss it on the bed and suddenly the song will change. It's odd. I guess you have to shake it just right in order for it to work. Quite honestly I fail to see the point behind this particular thing. If you want to move to the next song, without having to spend a good minute shaking the thing, you just push the next button on the rotor.

The next feature is not nearly as difficult to work, in fact it can be slightly annoying at times. If you tilt the screen a line of all your albums will show up, allowing you to sift through them. It is very touchy and can be activated by even the slightest tilt. I fail to see the point in this feature as well considering you can look at all the albums by going through 'Music' and selecting 'Albums'.

The new nano also has a new feature named 'Genius' which puts together a playlist of songs similar to ones you listen to. An interesting feature, something that I will likely use often.

It has a good amount of space, as most of the iPods do, and so far I have had no issues. The battery lasts twenty-four hours and sometimes longer depending. I'm hoping it will last at least four years like my previous iPod because I've grown very attached to it.

You could probably drop this thing five or eight times and it will still work fine.

Last Thoughts

Overall this is fantastic. The new features are interesting, if not a bit confusing as to why they were added, and everything about it seems to have improved. The variety of colors it comes in is also a bonus, I own the blue one myself.  If you are looking for a new mp3 or have just now thought about owning one, I highly recommend this device.

It drives me nuts...but I like it.
