My initial iPod avoidance...
Pros
Quickest UI for searching and forwarding through long audio files.
Cons
Doesn't play WMA format and must convert them. This creates duplicate files.

Three years ago I really got into audio books and had recorded all my cd's as digital files. I liked using window media player so I started using their format to compress the files.
Well I came from the Mac world as a designer, but now because of price and proximity have converted to PC. So I avoided the iPod. My first mp3 player was a Rio 128meg upgraded to a 256meg. Next I got a Phillips jukebox 4gig(wow); it was crap. I had to return it. Then I finally decided to go with a real mp3 player and bought this iPod Video. I use it daily.
I am so glad I did. It is well worth the price. I would pay twice the price for this superior functionality. I am still using a PC however, but if you are serious about music or anything audio, the iPod is the only choice.
Oh not to mention Podcasts. I subscribe and listen to them daily. (the free ones)
