If you decide to buy this make sure that you buy the insurance it's only 50 dollars and that you are thinking clearly before buying!
The 5th generation ipod, known as the ipod with video, is an awesome little gadget that holds 7,500 songs, 75 hours of video and about 12,000 photos. It comes in 2 colors which is a nice change from the 4th generation, Black, and white versus only white.
I receieved this Ipod with video for Christmas and loved the thing from the moment I opened the box. it was ten times thinner than my 20g 4th generation and had a rather large 2.5 inch color screen for displaying videos and picture slideshows.
I went out and bought a case for it so it would be protected because after all it is my baby! lol. I put it inm its nice little leather case to find that the case scratched it. That shocked me because a case is supposed to protect the ipod not hurt it. As far as storage capacity goes it is great. But what apple neglects to tell you about the ipod is that it can hold 7,500 songs and nothing else, 75 hours of video and nothing else, 12,000 photos and nothing else. They make it seem like it can hold all of these but it most certainly cannot.
The new ipod has way to many technical problems and poor itunes/ipod support line.
I had purchased my mom a 60g apple ipod with video for christmas as well and we could not figure out how she could have some of my songs wiht out having to pay for them because I had already bought them. I called Apple and got routed to their support line. The guy raced through the instructions and I asked him if he ould walk me through it step by step. He said I guess I can do it quickly. Does he have anyting better to do than help customers? I dont think so. I say thankyou to find that the directions he told me were incorrect. I call back and the line automatically disconnects me after saying how they are experiencing high call volume and trying to convince us to fix the problem ourselves on the apple support web site. I call back angry and the same guy takes my call. He confirms my email address more than once and says that he has just sent an email guiding me through the steps. I say thankyou go to check my email.
There was nothing in my inbox. Now I am ticked. I did not have the patience to call back so I let it be.
The next day the ipod was taking forever to update so I unpluged it because it said ipod was done updating on the screen but it said do not disconnect on the ipod screen. I unplug it after being sick of waiting. I go to use the ipod and the videos wont play and the songs skip from one to another without playing. I try updating it again and it works fine but I realize that the image for every song is the same. I call apple after having a solid 24 hours to recooperate from rude and poor support. The guy on the phone says that he did not know how to fix the problem. He says that he will search for an article to see how to fix it and then email me with the instructions. Lo and behold. No email AGAIN!! I am currently still trying to fix this problem right. I am giving the apple ipod with video a 2 star but I will reccomend it because it is new and has room for improvement. I believe that it is the best Mp3 player you will find out there right now because of the video feature and the capacity. Oh and by the way apple advertises their popular shows like Law and Order, and the Desperate Houswives but that is pretty much their only selection except for a few others.
All in all Apples new Ipod with video is way to sensitive and easily scratched and has some minor technical problems. The service is also probably the 2ed worst phone service I have ever experienced, but no service will ever be worse than Dell Technical Support. LOL

Some people were wondering about the video feature and wanted to know more about it. So here it is.
The video feature is a cool feature that only the 5th gen ipods have. You can purchase these movies for $1.99 on itunes, however they advertise that it is a video ipod but you cannot by any movies like Meet the Fockers so don't be fooled. The quality of the video is a little above average however it is so high quality for this little screen that it wastes the battery so much. My ipod battery only lasts 2.5 hours straight and thats it. So it is a pretty cool feature but I suggest a portable DVD player. They recently added more tv shows like Southpark and the proud family. The cost eventually adds up ehich is why I only purchase if I have a gift card!
Update: here is my latest gripe with the itunes/ipod issue! So my Dell computer crashed and broke forever. All my songs were on that computer. There is no way to get them back at all! So my friend found a way because he did it on his however, i got an apple computer as a replacement and since the systems aren't compatible if I ever wanted to update my ipod i would have to delete all of my songs and videos. I had a total of about 85 items which is not a lot however that means spending another $100 on songs/videos. This is absolutely ridiculous. If they think I'm buying another $100 on songs and videos then they've got another thing coming for them. They can rot in hell for all I give rat's a$$. Apple makes great computers and laptops because they don't get virus's, they are light and high tech, however the itunes/ipod deal is a joke!
