The Bottom Line:
Good player for those with huge music libraries, but too big.
Apple's 30GB iPod Video was the first mp3 player I ever owned. For a 13 year old living off a babysitting salary, this was a huge purchase for me. I was completely satisfied by how easy the iPod and iTunes were to use and the quality of it as well.
I really like the video feature. The screen may only be 2.5 inches, but the quality is so good. Most televisions don't have a good quality picture like the iPod does. iTunes now sells TV Shows, Movies, Short Movies, Video Podcasts (Free,) Music Videos, and Movie Trailers (Free.) The videos are somewhat low in taking up storage space, but the battery life for watching videos is only about 2-3 hours. At least now the iPod has a brightness level feature that can help make the battery life longer.
The photo quality is almost as good as the video quality. Just like videos, the photos are shown on a 2.5 inch screen, but very sharp and of a good quality. Slideshows of the pictures can be set up right on your iPod as well, with music and certain orders. The photo quality is also much better than the 1.5 inch screen on the iPod nano, which I also own.
The music is of a good quality, but to be blunt, I think it's not worth the size and cost of the player to just use it to listen to music, unless one has a huge library. The player is fairly heavy and after using the nano, I've found that the iPod video should be used, simply, for watching videos.
