Cons
Battery
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Buy it if you need a small, portable, high quality player.
I never had Apple anything and had previously used a cd player and portable radio. I got the mini Ipod to take most of my favorite music with me when I go overseas and my CDs stay in the US with my family. Additionally, I exercise a lot and wanted something light and shock-proof.
I am very happy. I got the mini Ipod for 10% with federal employee discount, plus I liked getting a free engraving on my green mini from Apple.
I use Windows and had zero problems with ITunes, reformatting, etc. I use ITunes to rip my CDs as well, but haven't bought any music yet. I've been using 80kps AAC and have yet to fill up my memory.
Exercising--no issues. When lifting weights, I use the belt clip. When running, I use the arm band. No skipping, and I often run for more than one hour. I got a splitter so when my wife and I walk, we can both listen. Used it on the plane, too.
Battery--I haven't gotten 8 hours yet, but have only been through about 6 chargings.
Operating--The mini Ipod interface is sweet. Very intuitive. Took my non-techie wife less than 2 minutes to figure it out. Might have to get her one...
I'm very pleased and recommend the mini to anyone with similar needs--lots of songs, small size, and quality.
