I Love my new Green iPod Mini! Its awesome!
The new iPod mini has many great features right of the iPod's that help to make it an awesome product. It has a great 4 gigabyte hard-drive on it. Which is amazing in itself considering its size. It has a kind of form of the "scroll-wheel" technology which makes for easy and awesome navigation through songs. Then, one of its best features, a contact book, and a few games!
The 4 gig. hard-drive that is in the iPod Mini is great. The other MP3 players its size can hold maybe 512 megs worth of music, which not only will cost you an arm and a leg to get a card that size, but in addition to that is still way under the amount of the mini. I have 563 songs on mine right now, and I still have about 1.7 gig of space left. I don't know how many songs you could honestly hit on here, but Apple boasts about a thousand, and I can see how that would be plausible. The point is, you can really beat this little MP3 player for space/price ratio. Its amazing, and holds quite a bit in a credit card sized package.
The navigation tool on the mini is nothing short of brilliant. Apple had quite a task on their hands when it came to designing a system that was similair enough to the regular iPod's, but small enough to work with the mini. What they came up with is awesome. So they took the wheeless system from the iPod, and turned it into something called the "click-wheel". It is still brilliantly easy to navigate with, a is almost fun to play with! You push the wheel in to move it, although it is still motionless providing extra strength, durability and in general less moving parts is better.
My favorite part of my iPod mini is the other things that I can do with it, in addition to listening to music. The little Operating system used in this MP3 player, allows you to keep a contact book, have solitaire and other games, keep your calender, store text notes to yourself, and even set your own wake-up call! All these little features are so handy in everyday life that there's really no reason to have a palm! Does your palm have a 4 gig hard-drive on it? Didn't think so! The other games are "Brick", and parachute, but my favorite is definatly brick.
Another great feature of the iPod Mini is its GUI (Graphical User Interface). It's taken directly from the regular iPod. It has been slightly modified to fit the compact size of the iPod Mini. It's awesome, it lets you easily scan through all of your MP3's, or you can make specific play lists through iTunes that will directly import right into the Mini automatically!
As far as uploading goes, you can't beat the iPod family. When you plug the iPod into your computer, iTunes will launch automatically and update your iPods play lists. If there has been any change in the play lists that are already there, the computer will make those changes without you even having to worry about them. It's awesome! In addition, since the iPod family are all firewire players, the uploads are remarkably fast! It will take a few minutes or less to completely upload your iPod FULL of music. Thats right, Fire wire transfers at about 40 meg per second, where as FAST USB (1.1) connections transfer at 1.5 meg. It is amazingly fast, and amazingly easy to upload and download to and from iPods.
All these features and more make the iPod mini a steal, and a wonderful product.
