Wow!
Oh okay, got my iPod from www.warehouse.com for a steal of a price. It's a second generation 20 GB iPod. I was able to get the Mac version for $200 less than the advertised price of the PC WiniPod. I have a PC so all I did was hook it up to my firewire card, download the PC iPod updated the firmware with a program from Apple's website, ran it, and ta diddly da, worked with my PC. I'd say that was worth a $200 savings.
Benefits of the iPod:
-Sexy!
-GREAT sound. I've listened to it with the included earbuds, higher rated noise-canceling headphones, and in the car with a tape adapter and all sounded amazing.
-Buttons are easy to manipulate.
-LOTS of capacity. I can carry my entire song and audio book collection (from www.audible.com) and still have room for pictures of my pet amoeba. (You can't see pictures on the iPod, but you can upload all sorts of files for transfer from one computer to another. Both must have firewire capabilities.)
-Fast data transfer, important with a larger capacity device.
-Supports www.audible.com audiobooks. I work out and listen to audio books every day.
