The Bottom Line:
A dream come true (for me), finally a computer for work and play all in one housing and reasonable in price. Right out of the box it worked!
I am in love. I can honestly say I have been waiting for this computer all my life. I have been a loyal Mac user since 1979 but as a backyard musician over the years have been frustrated at the lack of reasonably priced notation programs for Mac due to music being a nominal entity which thrives on the IBM platform. I know everyone says a Mac and a musician are best friends but honestly in the past 10 years I haven't been able to connect my keyboard to my Mac for one reason or another but mostly it was the push to upgrade that has been constant and added to my frustration as while the reasonably priced software Garage Band became available my computer didn't have a dual processor needed by Garage Band's latest edition which publishes sheet music along with the mp3s. So I started looking around at which computer would bring forth my musical vision and found the new iMac!
Wow! That's about all I can say right now as it seems all my hobby needs, video & music, are able to be fulfilled by this one computer which seems to have everything one needs to be creative as well as a work horse for the business. The new IMac 21.5" computer is a music composer's dream who wants to spend time composing rather than learning complex software which drains the creativity right out of me. All I had to do was connect my keyboard through the Firewire connection (better than USB), open up Garage Band start composing and print out my finished product. So easy. Such a dream.
The new iMac
I have watched the iMacs grow from a non-upgradable desktop computer to the ultimate computer to own. Aside from being elegant to look at this thing is FAST which will make rendering in video and music a quick and easy breeze. The dual processor makes shifting over from a PC to a Mac simple as this beauty will run Windows programs opening up a whole new world so some who have been chained to the Mac Platform (which has been basically ignored for years by the software makers). If adding memory is a new thing for this iMac, just add in a chip to the side and you're all done (no more cracking the shell as with other models of Macs). Fast did I say FAST? Zippity doo and you're done with tasks that take minutes longer than slower computers.
The new iMac is also environmentally friendly free of toxins and meets Energy Star qualifications for low power usage which will save you money. It's also quiet which in this world of background noises helps with noise pollution in the home. It's also wireless so no more cords to trip over or to untangle. The best thing about this computer is the price, only $1199! Wow. I spent double that on my G4 5 years ago for less computer.
The Led display has a gorgeous and lush look about it with images showing up super clear. The whole computer looks gorgeous sitting on my desk. As I said I'm in love again with my new Mac. Thanks to all the folks at Apple for making my 30 year old dream come true.
