The Bottom Line:
need a powerful laptop to do some serious video work, graphics, audio, etc while you aren't at a desk? look into a Powerbook. you'll love it.
slim, lightweight design that isn't bogged down by all those ridiculous media card reader slots and other miscellaneous garbage that PC manufacturers think is necessary. also, the Airport card is controlled via SOFTWARE, not those pointless hardware switches. the PCMCIA slot is hardly noticeable until you need it, which is great. operation is supremely quiet and the trackpad is smooth, responsive and the tap-click is very predictable. video output through the DVI port is crystal clear. although the speakers aren't the best, we ARE after all talking about a laptop here and i'm kind of happy it isn't weighted down with big speakers when i use my Sennheiser headphones anyway. screen is excellent, have not noticed any dead pixels. i find the keyboard is very comfortable to type on and is easily pulled up for access to the RAM and Airport card.
everyone who uses a Mac knows how good the OS is, i won't bother with that since we all know how good the Mac platform is. what's important is THIS MAC and its design. the battery is very long lasting and charges quickly, its time-remaining indicactor is, for a change, accurate.
the 1 Ghz PPC 7447 makes short work of video editing, particularly when you beef up the RAM and use an external Firewire drive at 7200 RPM. it is not a "Power"book for nothing.
