One Beautiful Laptop

Cons
Bottom gets hot.

Yes
The Bottom Line:
You can't go wrong with Apple PowerBook g4
I purchased the 12" model about 8 months ago. At first I got it to use when I travelled as I had a Compaq desktop PC with 19" monitor as my main machine.
But I usually set the two machines side-by-side when I am at my desk. And I have to say, this is one awesome machine and I actually have come to prefer it over my desktop machine. This is saying a lot since it's competing against a desktop machine with 19" monitor and Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse (quite nice, I shold say)
Using e-mail on it it is a pleasure with built-in e-mail software. Since it's a Mac, viruses are not a concern. The browser is first rate, fast and convenient and my concerns about spyware and other malware are much less than on a PC.
I just love iTunes. I did a movie for our cub scount den using iMovie and iPhoto have been holding all our family photos from our digital camera. I even have my screen saver so that it shows the pictures.
OK, this is supposed to be a review of the 12" Powerbook so lets get down to brass tacks. The screen is pretty bright, its not that heavy. The bottom gets a little hot when its on which can be annoying. It's silent and I rarely hear the fan go on. The keyboard is pretty nice for notebook - that is there is a lot of travel on it and it does not feel squishy or hard, just right in my mind. Batterly life is usually over 2 hours and processor is quite fast for what I do. I have noticed that it canget bogged down with movies, so I have to say that a faster process for movies would be worthwhile (I have 700MHZ)
Using the touchpad took a bit of getting used to and is a little slower in my fingers than a mouse. And I really miss a second button, for control clicking like on a PC. I actually prefer the touchpad now because it's easier on my wrists and I have a tendency to get carpal tunnel with mouse use.
The OS is rock solid and I rarely crash. When an application crashes, I uaually can shut it down only and not he whole machine. Again, side by side with my PC, my mac is just more stable.
In my opinion Apple has built a nearly perfect notebook computer.
