The Bottom Line:
Get yourself a Mac G4 Powerbook, 17 inches. This is a great, life-altering machine.
I recently converted from PC to Mac, with my purchase of the MAC Powerbook G4. I have been singing its praises ever since. This little silver box about the size of a TV dinner is pretty much my whole life. It is my office, my music, my videos, my communicator, and on cool mornings on the commuter train it even keeps my lap warm.
And when I say it does everything, I mean it does everything easily and intuitively. Where a PC will befuddle you with some sort of error message, prompting you to open and run some program to remedy the situation, your Mac would, in similar circumstances, just go ahead open, run and remedy it for you.
I've used my Mac along with my digital cam corder to edit little movies on the iMovie program. iMovie is very simple to use. i'm more of a creative than technical person, but with this program i was an instant professional. It does possess certain limitations (and to that end i'm looking into more sophisticated editing software such as FinalCut Pro, but only because i'm now (SELF PLUG:) running a business whereby i create movie/slideshows for people from their still photograph. Write to me, send me your pics and some cash and i will send you a DVD that will make you cry your eyes wet, and laugh your pants wet. I digress a bit, but my point is that i owe it all to the ease of MAC.iMovie is a terrific program.
Similarly iTunes and the iPod, a music program and music MP3 player that will change your life as well. You can store thousands and thousands and thousands of songs in there and easily access them or put them on shuffle. It is the neverending jukebox.
The machine is moderately light, 10 pounds, and i carry it in a briefcase with me everywhere I go and have not snapped lumbar yet. It's a stylish looking metal case. Very thin, comparable to a deck of playing cards. It's a great machine. Keyboard is concise, mouse is responsive, speakers impressive. Overall very sturdy device.
Overall OS X is a great operating system, very intuitive. It takes a while to get in tune with the keyboard shortcuts to perform operations, but you can see from the get go that it offers improved ease of use over PC operating systems, at least the ones i've dealt with.
This thing, and mind you i'm not some loser, is like my best friend. Love the Mac. You would too. Trust EGenius. That's the MAC Powerbook G4 17 incher. Change your life with one. In a few short months you'll realize you've already gotten your money's worth from this machine.
