Apple Wireless Keyboard: Just like the Endless Selection of Apps, "Gotta Have it!"

Pros Good size, Excellent keyboard functionality, quickly connects.
Cons Expensive.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:

Although useful it isn't necessary to use the iPad and can be left out as an option if your looking to cut some costs from owning your new iPad.

Let's face it sometimes a touch screen isn't always the greatest way to type, or the fastest for that matter, but that is why purchasing a wireless keyboard from apple was my best option for my Apple iPad 2 (16GB) Wi-Fi Tablet.

Ultra Thin... for my thighs I hope!

Well unfortunately the thinness refers to the ultra thin aluminum enclosure and low profile keys.  When regarding low profile keys I would say it mirrors that of a low riding car, where the keys barely stick above the keyboard itself.  Because the keyboard is so thin, it mimics the lean design of my Apple iPad 2 (16GB) Wi-Fi Tablet. On a side note, even though the wireless keyboard is thin it seems to be durable, but please don't mistaken this statement for an endorsement of mistreating the keyboard.  Typically while typing I am using the Apple iPad2 Polyurethane Smart Cover as a kickstand so that it sits upright and allows me to view the screen as if it were a monitor.

Bluetooth

Indeed Bluetooth, using wireless technology the unit can easily be discovered by my Apple iPad 2 (16GB) Wi-Fi Tablet, so the setup process is quick and easy.   The wireless seems to work a good distance away from the Tablet, but I don't see how you would be very far from it anyway as the screen isn't large enough to see what you would be typing.  Since you can use the screen "flipped" or rotate in both the vertical and horizontal direction while using the iPad it makes it easy to use the screen as a monitor and type away with the wireless keyboard.

Personal Experience

Truthfully for 70 bucks, can be a fairly expensive, and in some cases unnecessary component to purchase.  I would contest however for myself I needed it for the lengthy typing I do (you know all you nice people reviews here on epinions).  In addition to being just a keyboard for typing, it also has special function keys for shortcuts, which can also be programmable.  Also the low profile keys are nice in my opinions it's almost like typing on a futuristic type keyboard that just has a space where a key should be and recognizes you touching it.  I would also add that the amount of pressure is much less when typing, similar to a laptop keyboard but easier when typing.  Finally regarding battery life the 2 AA batteries have yet to fail on me, I don't necessary know what the timeframe or general lifespan would be but for the last month I've used it on a consistent basis and have not had problems.  Typing on the Apple Wireless Keyboard is a breeze and I do find that my overall speed and accuracy is not adversely effected by the small size and lean design, also it is nice that it has a numeral pad built into it as I use Excel and enter a good deal of numbers and figures.

Recommendation

Here is where I would defer to the consumer and have them ask themselves, will I use it?  How often? Do I need it right now?  You could always use the Apple iPad 2 Tablet for a few weeks and determine if it is really an accessory that you want and need right away.  Honestly I do recommend the Apple Wireless Keyboard for the quality, general usage, and versatility it provides the user, but if you don't need a keyboard then save your money. Overall the quality, functionality, and usability have been worth the investment in my personal case, not to mention how much easier it makes using my Apple iPad 2 (16GB) Wi-Fi Tablet has become.  I should point out that the Apple Wireless Keyboard works with more than just the iPad, and can be used on Mac desktops as well so for those of you looking to upgrade your current keyboard situation it is available to you.
