This is a great product. I have been using this product for years now and is still as quick and reliable as ever. I bought this product because the touch interface had caught my eye, but this was at the time that the app store had not been made yet. Once the app store came out the iPod was 10-fold better. Great apps help most aspects of your life with social networking, games and more. There are a few problems with the first generation iPod touch that the others don't have and that is that it doesn't have speakers, microphone compatibility and good TV out functions which at some points have capped its potential, for example when I want to use the iPod to chat to friends on skype but instead I have to have a one way conversation with me typing my responses back.

The music functions of the iPod are great, double click the home button during whatever I'm doing and the iPod brings up the music controls. The easy music interface it is simple and usable so that you can find your music in seconds.

The safari browser is very good for a mobile device and can display normal websites without too muc htrouble although there is no flash installed so you cannot look at and interact with flash content.

The youtube app is very good because it streams the videos a lot quicker because it is not loading the background and other items that would be on the normal youtube website at the same time. There are many good features including your subscriptions, featured, most viewed and more.

The mail app allows you to use POP3 email along with yahoo, gmail and microsoft exchange. You can view most of the attachments that you recieve via email.
