Look for different kind of charger
It will charge your iPod, and it will let you sync it with iTunes. But... I am getting an alert every minute or so (using it under XP) that inform me that a new usb device has been connected. It is very very annoying, but at least it costs several dollars and not 50$ like apple wants...
