Mac OS X Leopard (10.5)

Pros Best Networking Experience, Stable, Similar spec requirements as Tiger, Better Multi-tasking experience, Secure.
Cons I don't like the new 3D dock.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I love this release of OS X, but wait till the next version.  The next version of OS X is just around the corner, coming out this summer or fall.
My experience with Leopard has been excellent.  I have used many different versions of OS X, starting with the very first release.  This is in my top two list of best OS X releases.
I bought this product really, because I was buying a new Mac and it came pre-installed.  So far I have found Leopard to be very stable, and over all really snappy.
My favorite features oh this release is a feature called "Quick Look" which allows you to quickly preview almost all files within the finder.  It really is handy when browsing through large amounts of files.

Spotlight:Spotlight actually is not a new feature, but Apple made significant improvements to it, it is better at finding what you are looking for, and it finds it quicker.

Spaces:I use this only occasionally, mostly when I am involved with some big projects.  It has allowed me to be more efficient, and organized.  I use it when I am video editing, it allows me keep all those windows separate from the every day things I need to do.  Which makes life much easier.

Time Machine:I don't use time machine.  It looks sleek and incredibly simple to use. I just am not really concerned about it crashing and would prefer to just use the free space I have on my other hard drives.

Boot Camp:I don't currently use it, I have no reason to run windows.  However, I have used it in the past and it works really well.  Run windows XP or vista no problem.

Other Improvements:Apple has also improved networking.  The other day I was editing a website on a web disk, which would have choked other versions of OS X in the past.  Not only did Leopard not crash, it was very responsive.  There are also improvements to the desktop, like stacks.  Stacks is a new type of folder that can be put in your Dock.  It does keep your desktop clean and less cluttered.  For more details I recommend looking at apple's website.

Compared to Windows:I currently also have a PC but it mostly sits around.  I love my mac, and it is because I really like Mac's operating system more in comparison.  When I use my PC I feel like the operating system gets in the way of getting things done.  For example the many times when Windows if you are sure you want to do something.  It drives me nuts, I don't need to be babysat by the operating system.

I have never had a virus on any of the macs I've owned or used over the last twenty years or so.  I haven't had many viruses on my PCs but the simple fact is you have to be more careful on the PC.  There are thousands and thousands of viruses on PCS and less then ten viruses for the mac.
