True Progressive Scan for under $225

byrdog99 Apr 18, 2001
Pros True Progressive Scan 3:2 pulldown Cost is great
Cons I have heard about some reliablilty issues with Apex, but so far so good!
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  A true progressive scan dvd for under $225 (got it for $199 at Sams Club) with all the bells and whistles. I highly recommend it.
I recently purchased a HDTV with progressive scan. I then researched many progressive scan dvd players to complement my tv, and dollar for dollar this seems to be the best.

It is a true progressive scan dvd with 3:2 pulldown. It has composite, s-video, and component outputs.

It is switchable between progressive scan and interlaced modes (which makes comparing the difference in quality great)

It plays dvd, cd, vcd and mp3s (I have not yet tried the mp3s or cdrs or cdrws).

Further is has dolby digital decoder built in for those with DD ready receivers. Not Bad!

It has run perfectly with absolutely no problems!!

I purchased component cables from Radio Shack (about 1/3 price of monster cables) and boy is the picture quality great.

You can tweak the colors and almost all imaginable parameters on this machine.

Check out how many "progressive" scan players are not true progressive scan. Most cost $700 or more

I have had it for a couple of weeks now and it has run great.

I think it is a great buy.
