The Bottom Line:
Avoid any Apex player at all costs. The upfront "savings" will be quickly eaten away by spending endless hours on the phone with customer "service".
This review is mostly about customer service, which is so bad, that it trumps any value you may get from purchasing this average DVD player. I was lured into the Apex universe a year ago by the less-than-$100 price tag and list of features. The unit simply stopped playing all discs 8 months after purchase. I sent it back to Apex since the parts were still under warranty. 11 weeks and 7 phone calls later, I am still waiting for my unit. After about 5 weeks they told me that their warehouse was being moved and they were having problems with their system..that was an understatement. At 10 weeks they told me they were replacing it, that was over a week ago and the service manager will not return my calls. Furthermore, my account on their website has been erased. I recently bought a comparable Toshiba as a gift for $89 from Best Buy. At this point, there are so many decent players for under $100, that there is NO REASON TO BUY AN APEX. BUYER BEWARE.
