Beware of weird results
I bought one of these players for the obvious reason; I heard about the secret menu and I wanted to have it. I found that it does indeed do what I wanted. what the other reviews won't say...
I've put my second update up top because it's important that people see this. THIS PLAYER DIED AFTER 18 MONTHS AND THERE IS NO EXPLANATION. A faint burnt smell, and now now power. My guess is that it has a fried capacitor in the power supply since the little LED flickers lightly. I'll take it apart... Read full review »

I bought this product because I needed a new cd player for my room and I decided just to get a dvd player because they are getting cheaper now. Your First DVD and MP3 Player
I purchased my APEX DVD player in June 2000. It has a sticker on the bottom that sets its manufacture date as January 2000 and it does not have the loopholes menu.

Apex is great, but........
The Apex is a great DVD player for the cost. I got mine last week at Circuit City for about $179. There are a few misleading reviews here though. I think it's only fair to warn everyone who is considering buying the Apex on a few details..
