The Bottom Line:
Great system for DVD newcomers.
I received the Apex AD-600A as a Christmas present, and overall I must say that I am quite pleased. This is my first DVD player (though I've used others)and learning how to use the functions and features were a breeze. The set-up was so easy that I was left wondering if I had done something wrong since it was so simple. So far I am happy with the overall useaability of this player. The menus are simple to understand and navigate. The remote is nicely designed, making it easy to perform the command you want.
My only problem thus far is that the picture becomes alternately lighter and darker while movies are being played. I'm not sure if it is the player itself, the VCR that it is wired through (my T.V. didn't have the proper A/V connections), or the quality of my co-axial cables. Once I isolate the variable responsible for this, I'll update my review.
The only other drawbacks to the Apex is the Controller lacks a bookmarking function nad the eject button is easily discernable from the other buttons on the players faceplate.
