Cons
Picture Quality and Key Features missing from deck

Yes
Apex Digital DVD Player was one of the hottest DVD players on the market because it used to have the ?loophole? menu; this enables the player to backup DVD videos to VHS without any problem. However, under the pressure of legal agencies, Apex are required to remove this feature on further releases and callback players with this enabled. The reason why I bought this player is to take advantage of this feature; however, the disappointment appeared when the loophole menu is not available on my deck. But the value definitely worth the cost of the features the player provides.
The video quality is a bit disappointing comparing to other brand name players. Pixels can be seen, big pixels when watching VCD. DVD is no problem with this player. I personally thinks that the reason why this decent player is not that expensive is because of lack of buttons on the deck itself, without chapter search and vocal swap, it is extremely less attractive comparing to Panasonic and Pioneer DVD players. MP3 feature is excellent, the player is able to play MP3 directly off a self-burn CDR media. Also, able to read MP3 files located in folders but not on the main directory. Sound quality is also decent, although optical output is not included, but the player is equipped with Dolby Digital and DTS, allowing users with an older receiver who does not have Dolby Digital and or DTS decoding a breeze. The remote control is very complete; it has all the necessary buttons to function the player. One downslide is that the remote looks a big dull comparing to other brands.
This player is perfect, MP3 capabilities, CDR media readable, VCD features, and karaoke feature. All the listed features are the best selling point of this player. I especially like the decent price of this player. There are several downslides about this player, the deck does not contains all the required control keys to skip chapter and fast forward. The remote is pretty complete, every required buttons are present, however, and it does too plain.
This product suits people with a tight budget and wants a high-end DVD player. Since the features provided are comparable to expensive models such as Panasonic, Sony and Pioneer, just only with a minimal difference on quality.
