The Bottom Line:
Stay away from this DVD player. The cons out weigh the pros by a long shot. spend the extra 50$ for a better made player
What first attracted me to the apex ad-600a was the price. I thought wow a dvd player for under 150$ that plays vcds (video cds) and Mp3s, what a great deal. What I noticed first when I opened the box and picked it up was its light flimsy construction. It felt like something that would take a 2 foot fall and shatter on the ground. After Pluging in the machine and putting a dvd in I was baffled when I saw the movie but didnt hear any sound. It took me close to an hour of fumbling through the hard to use menus to figure out that the sound settings needed to be changed. Once the sound was working I put in a dvd of a concert. At first it sounded very good, just like the hyped up dvd sound is supposed to sound, but after 5 minutes a noticed a slight skipping in the sound. The other very noticable defect in this dvd player was the dvd loading tray. Half of the time when I went to put a dvd in the tray would close half way and start to push the dvd out while it continued to close. In the end I have 2 dvds now that are scratched beyond use.
Even though at 150$ the Apex ad-600a seems like a great deal, you would be much better off spending the extra 50$ and not having to worry about the hassles that come with this poorly made dvd player.
