I bought the AD-600 because it plays mp3's. Now, after two exchanges at Circuit city, I am ready to take my third Apex dvd player back. This time I will exchange it for a different brand.
I loved my Apex at first it played cd's, mp3's, dvd's like it said. However, when my friend got me my first dvd (Terminator 2), my dvd player started having problems. First, it kept repeating scenes. Then, I tried to watch the special edition, my fabulous Apex dvd player only made it through half the movie.
My friend had told me that he found out that Apex dvd players will not play a lot of movies unless they are sent back to get a firmware update.
He said my options were to spend $20 to send it to Apex Inc. or go back to circuit city and exchange it for a new one.
So, not wanting to fork out another $20, I exchanged. I got home and plugged in my 2nd new Apex dvd and it played one cd and then died. By died I mean it wouldn't play anything else, and a new problem arose, the buttons on the unit itself did not work.
The third Apex dvd player I got is basically the same as the first one. It will not play T2 but it will play mp3's and cd's.
As for Apex customer service, I'm not sure yet. I called them today, it is a Saturday. I got a message stating their hours but it didn't say if they were closed on weekends. Basically the recording said no one was available to take my call. I think they if they are closed on Saturday's they should say so in their recording.
Well I have a dvd player to return, if you've actually read this, thanks.
