The Bottom Line:
Great family game. Tons of items and stuff to do.
Great game. First off I have never seen a game quite like this.
You are the only human in a town full of animals. When you first start the town is occupied by 5 or 6 animals and over time up to 15 will finally move in. You must talk to the Raccoon that owns the store and do chores for him in order to pay off your loan for your home. After that he will upgrade your house 3 more times, for a price.
You can buy wallpaper at the store as well as many other items to decorate your house. You can also do favors for animals in the village to earn items or money. The game runs on real time, meaning if it is 6:15pm it is that time in the game. There IS a feature for you to change the clock if you so desire. You must be sure there are no weeds in your town. You can plant flowers and fruit trees as well.
There is a beach and a river so you can go fishing. The fish you catch may be sold at the store or you can take them to the museum. There are special event days as well. For example, New Years eve there is a fireworks show.
One of the best features of this game is online trading. NO this is NOT an online game. What you do is go online and find an Animal Crossing message board. You can also just trade with a friend if you like. You can go to the town store and talk to the raccoon. You give him the name of your friends town and their character name and the item and he gives you a code which you then give to the friend. They claim it at their town store!
You can hook up a game boy advance and travel to the local island where there are other things to do to earn money.
You can hook up an ereader and get new clothes and songs for your town.
If you have 2 memory cards with Animal Crossing data you can travel to another town, just hop on the train and you can visit another village (when you travel on the train an animal from your town will move to the town you traveled to!)
You can also play REAL CLASSIC NINTENDO GAMES. Oh yes that is right!!!! Games like Donkey Kong and Ice Climbers and Mario Brothers. If you purchase Action Replay you can have access to the Original Zelda and Super Mario Brothers.
