I just joined yet another beauty/fashion website where you make trades with other members and end up with a bag of new items that are worth far more than you paid. One of the items I traded for was Cargo Lip Gloss Quad in South Beach. I love Cargo products so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed in the quad and I'm not. The colors are very beachy and neutral and can mixed to make a unique shade.

Packaging

This lip quad comes in Cargo's signature round metal tin. It's big, about the size of my palm. The top lifts off to review four triangular shades of gloss. The colors in South Beach are sunny, light, and shimmery. There is a nearly nude shimmer, a light pink shimmer, a gold/peach shade, and a flattering brown shade that shimmers subtly. All of these shades can be mixed together to make a new shade. There is no mirror or applicator with this quad.

My Experience

I have some Cargo lip glosses but not a quad like this so I was eager to try it. Cargo Lip Gloss Quad South Beach doesn't contain the typical shades that I wear but that is why I wanted it. I have a million of the same or similar shades. This quad has nice and neutral colors that are creamy and shimmery. They glide on nicely with a finger or brush and can be mixed to get just the right look.

I generally use a brush to apply because I don't like to dip my fingers into the pan for fear of bacteria. The colors are not completely opaque but they have good pigment. They shine and shimmer although two shades are much more shimmery than the other two.

My lips feel nourished and supple when I wear these shades. The wear time, as usual, is just average. The color fade away in an hour or so.

I like the shades but there are nine of these quads and some have more pigmented and deeply colored gloss in them. Still, for a change of pace, this quad is great for me. I don't have many shades that correlate to the ones in South Beach.

When the gloss wears off, it does so slowly and without patchiness. There sometimes is a bit of shimmer left behind.

I have been mixing the shades and noticed that I can actually use them all as cream eye shadows. I use a good primer underneath and apply the shade or shades onto my lids. They aren't sticky and they don't crease. Bonus!

The large pan will last a long time and is easy to toss into my bag. The tin top doesn't come loose. I'm happy with this quad and want to try the others!

Buying Info

You can purchase Cargo Lip Gloss Quad in South Beach and the other shades online on the Cargo website or on a number of sites that sell higher end beauty products. I am not sure where Cargo products are sold offline except for Sephora but I'mn sure they're out there in department stores. A quad will cost about $24.00.

The Verdict

I like this quad a lot. The shades aren't nearly as sheer as they appear on the Cargo website but they also aren't heavy. They glide on nicely and hydrate my lips while giving them shine and shimmer. I also love that I can use these shades as eye shadows! This quad is a bit pricey so i suggest you look for a kit of Cargo products that has a lip quad in it. You can really save a lot that way. At any rate, I'm going with 4 stars.
