I have used hand pumps(definitely not the way to go), I have used the Medela electric pump(borrowed from the hospital) and the Ameda Purely Yours. Out of these three different styles the Ameda is the best. I have nursed two children and am now nursing my third. I really wish I had this pump with all of them. Being a stay at home mom I did not think I would use a pump very often. I have had to use the Ameda many times because of soreness and problems causing me not to be able to nurse and I plan to use it whenever needed in the future.

The setup is so much easier to use. The base holds the bottles for you and prevents your hands from being occupied. The pump has great suction and different variable settings. I also like the way it all goes together. It has less small parts than the Medela and is easy to take apart and clean.

I really like having the wall adaptor and not having to use batteries. This will save a lot of money. The Ameda comes with a really stylish black carrying case. All the parts fit nicely into the case and it has room for storing pumped milk. The storage compartment contains freezable ice packs to keep the milk fresh until you can refrigerate it. This pump comes with everything you need, it even has some extras. It has been very convenient for me to use and I am glad I decided to make this purchase.
