I had decided to go back to work only part-time after I had a baby, until I could give my notice, then stay home full-time. However, those 12 weeks of maternity leave flew by, and I was not ready to wean my exclusively breast-fed baby. I had been using a very good manual pump at home for the one or two times during the week that I had to leave my baby with a bottle.

After researching electric pumps on the internet, I decided to go with the Purely Yours. First, it was a double pump, which I wanted. Second, it had an optional battery-pack, and I thought I might need this option if I had to use the pump in the restroom at work, where there are no electrical outlets. Finally, I found the pump brand-new at an on-line auction with a very professional-looking carrying case at a great price. I couldn't resist.

The first two times I used the pump, I couldn't express any milk. I finally decided to read the instructions, and I had left a very important valve off when I put the pump together. After I put it together correctly, it worked great. The parts are easy to assemble and disassemble, and they are easy to wash by hand, or in the dishwasher. The carrying case is great--it has two insulated pockets--one with three ice-packs for storing and transporting milk.

As my boss let me use her office to pump, I never needed or bought the battery pack. This pump does make a fairly loud swooshing/beeping noise, which made me self-conscious at first, but I got over it.

My only complaint is that since I started using the Purely Yours pump, I cannot get my manual pump to work anymore. I guess my body is used to the more advanced technology.
