This is MOBY? Cool.

Pros Textured, pretty melodies. Soothing.
Cons Not 'Dance' techno. Not too exciting.
Recommended it? Yes
This album give you a feel for what moby was doing before he developed a strong affinity for female vocalizations and gospel music samples. In fact, this isn't like moby's recent stuff at all- this has got to be one of the most misleading album covers of all time: it isn't strictly ambient either.

The music is fairly low-key, melodic, with long modal chords and suspended chords. however, is a definate beat, often a booming 4/4 transic bass drum beneath highly melodic synth lines at about 130 Beats per Minute. It has that 'general MIDI' texture to it, like early techno. It is composed mostly of synthesized sounds with few samples.

This sounds less like MOBY's recent albums than the APHEX TWIN's "selected ambient works" vol 1 and 2-- or at least a more melodic version of it.

In summary, emotional music that can suck you into a transic state if you let it. Do not listen while operating heavy machinery.
