The Bottom Line:
Lightweight and quiet, ballpark price for 12000 btu, brand name item, cools good, could blow with more force ....get one if you find one...
My good ole GE 12.5btu burned its plug up the last 2 days. So I went out and got the last 12000 btu in Nashville today. It hit 100 today and every store is empty so I picked up the last demo model at a good price of $250 at hhgregg. Thanks guys!!!!!
Well it is a lighter unit than the GE 12.5 unit I had for the last 5 years. Up 2 flights of stairs from driveway. Man thats not good on the back. This unit is smaller with Dimensions (WxDxH) 23-11/16" x 22-7/6" x 14-31/32".
Specs for this Thru-Wall/Window is:
Cooling Capacity....................12000 BTU/hr

Remote Control With Remote Control
Fan Speeds and (Cooling).........3
Voltage..................................115
Cooling Ampacity ...................10.6
Timer Function.......................Yes
Remote Control ......................Yes
Energy Star Compliant.............Yes
Cools up to 600 Square Foot Room / Contemporary Design
Well you will need some help in setting up the rails for the window seal. You have to remove the a/c from its shell to screw in 6 screws. Three on top and three on the bottom. I kinda don't understand the idea behind this cause so many things can go wrong and get broken in this process. The GE I had you could screw them in from the outside and put it in the window and viola. No problem. But you will need another set of hands to get this done faster without anymore cussing...maybe.
The blower on this model is not the strongest. But it will do. But it is very quiet and good to sleep in the room with. The GE 12.5 btu model I had would blow paper off the table from 15 ft away.
The computer on this unit is some what mind boggling. Too many little buttons and settings. Getting the thing to stay on without going off every hour is a hassle ...but this is due to the timer on/off button functions. Still trying to figure this out.
Now come to find out tonight my tv remote controls the unit also. I've got an old Toshiba that is 10 years old and wouldn't ya know it...lol. My volume buttons turns the timer on and off and channel 3 changes the speed setting. AARRGGH.
But anyway this unit seems to be doing ok for right now . The heat wave is bad this week , in the 100's for the next 4 days.
I will give a update as time progresses this summer.
If you can get one go ahead and buy it...it's worth it.
