The Bottom Line:
I gotta feeling that I need to hide this CD until my daughter has her own CD player!
My kids, especially my 5 year old, love The Chipmunks. She enjoyed The Squeakquel in the movies and laughed the entire time. She went home singing her own version of The Chipettes covering Beyonce's Single Ladies and asked me on multiple occasions to find it online for her to listen to. Everyone knows she loves the Chipmunks so I wasn't surprised when her "boyfriend" (my best friend's son) got this CD for her as a birthday gift.
She loves it.
My daughter has been listening to this CD non-stop in the car back and forth to school and trips around town in the Mom-van. The CD has all the songs from The Squeakquel movie plus a bonus track which is The Chipmunks & The Chipettes covering Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling" which actually was in a different Rodent Movie - G-Force.
If you have seen The Squeakquel, you are likely to recognize and remember most of the songs from straight out of the movie. Some are more memorable than others - like The Chipettes covering Katy Perry's Hot N Cold and Beyonce's Single Ladies. Chipmunks fans will appreciate that there are some songs with just The Chipmunks, just The Chipettes and combined Chipmunks & Chipettes.
I appreciate that the songs are contemporary and I happen to like the original versions of most of them (The Chipmunks/Chipettes versions.. well, they are FUN, too.) My daughter loves the squeaky high pitched voices that happen to sound a lot like her own squeaky high pitched voice. For a five year old it really is a fun compilation of songs that to sing along with. However, after the 3rd or 4th go-round with this CD in the car, I find myself wishing for tylenol (or something stronger) when my daughter is still begging for more more more of "her Chipmunks".
If you like your friends a lot, you might want to think about how much your friends will like you after you buy this CD for their kids!
That being said, I will be purchasing my daughter her own portable CD player very soon so she can listen to it when and where she wants to without further risking my sanity.
Overall, a fun CD for the kids that is without a doubt headache inducing for parents.
