You update the firmware by downloading it from the Aluratek Website. Then copy the firmware file to a USB key. Insert the USB key into the USB slot on the Alurtek and menu pick to update the firmware (In advanced settings). Wired and wireless operation is good after the firmware upgrade. You can media stream from your PC by enabling Windows Media Server on your PC using either Media Player 11 or Windows Media Connect 2.0. Remember if you are running a firewall you may need to input a static IP for the Aluratek and then put that IP into your PC's firewall to connect. For wireless operation if you are doing MAC address filtering you will need to enter the MAC address of the Aluratek (In advanced settings) into your wireless router/access point. Some have complained about not being able to enter their encryption key in upper and lower case on the Aluratek...If that was a valid complaint in the past it no longer appears to be the case as you can switch between upper and lower case and special characters by simply repeatedly hitting the same letter key. After you have everything setup and working then you can go to http://aluratek.vtuner.com to register and setup your own Favorites manually (Different from the favorities menu already on the Aluratek). This will enable you to access most of the VTUNER stations that are not pre-loaded on the Aluratek (Although I've noticed that the Aluratek VTuner site is missing some stations from the regular VTuner application but they should be able to add for you if you request. Overall I would give this internet radio about 3 1/2 stars out of 5. With a few more improvements in the firmware (Like retaining the Encryption Key info when switching between wired and wireless) then it is definitely a solid peformer.
