Okay, granted, I know most people who own ipods are more than happy with their headphones.
That aside, some people prefer to buy speakers because these are good for setting a mood and sharing a playlist with friends while hanging out. probably similar to the way that people have a boombox set up at gatherings while they drink and talk about sports or cars.
This is a nice portable system if you want to take your music with you and not run your car to do it. I happen to like using it when I play chess or Magic the gathering; kinda takes out the mediocrity of silence.
I don't use radios much as I don't like modern music, but all the hits from the 80's and 90's are still out there on mp3, and that's just as good.
