My unit arrived with a totally dead IR Remote control, the ONLY way to select and save FM station and control the iPod. I called over 4 weeks ago for a replacement, they sent a AC power supply instead. Called AGAIN 3 weeks ago to complain and Customer Service PROMISED to send the IR Remote immediately, NOTHING has arrived! I called a 3rd time today and now they tell me there are NONE in stock and no indication when they will have more to send! CS lied!
Update: Altec Lansing finally sent me a replacement unit (keep in mind that BestBuy initially sold it as supposedly in "new condition and tested"). The replacement works perfectly, including the remote. But it still rattles on Bass tones and is due to the not so great Chinese manufacturing - something we should get used to with a lot of garbage coming out of China.
I liked previous versions of A.L.'s iPod speaker systems, and now that A.L. is self owned again, perhaps the quality will improve again.... like go back to making thing in Japan or Taiwan again, where quality and QC matters.
