Cons
large wires (might be too short for some) pricy
Recommended it?
Yes
WOW! I plugged them in over a week ago, replace a cheap 3 speaker system, and i was impressed. Had to start listening to favorite songs just to hear how much better they sound. With Dobly surround and pro logic these speakers could power a home entertain system. The sub is small but has a huge kick. I need to turn it down rather then set it up high like I use too. I have not test the surrounds sound a lot, but i am actually enjoying the 4 small cubes with my music. It fills the room more and with better sound.
Has a good lenght of cable. Not very long, but will fit around most desk with ease. The two satilites are connected to the sub with wires that are connect permittedly to the satilites and plugged into the sub. There are special altec lansing wires, and can't be extended. There is an normal miniplug wire from computer to sub. Power plug does not have a large adaptor (so fits great into a surge protector). There is also a USB cable. This lets you control sound volume in lots of detail off your computer. The software is very easy to use. It has a very graphic interface with factory and costume presets for volumes. The speakers work without the USB cable just fine. You can use the power and surround to switch between surround and stereo w/o the USB wire. You are suppose to be able to run the speakers off the USB cable. Have not gotten it to work, but i will try.
--overall--
excellent sound, might be pricy if buying new (i got my used). powerful sub, and satilites. great for music, movies, games (surround sound is very cool in QIII). simply to use. buttons work fine (small but isolate enough for easy use). software is very easy to use. set-up takes two restarts to work with USB though.
perfect for your new DVDs, games or music
