Squash out Humanity

Pros Online Play, Voice Chat, Blowing crap up.
Cons Can get Frusterating.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you pass this game by then your missing a fine and near final momemnt in Dreamcast Gaming.
Sadly, the Dreamcast is seeing its last days. Maybe we were denied a huge game to send the DC off to gaming heaven (Something the Saturn had in the form of PDS) At least this game makes up for some of the disappointment.

STORY: The aliens attack yet again in this game. And the war is fought with tanks, 3 tanks....for either side....... Sounds like a poorly funded war.

GAMEPLAY: The game is really pretty fun and addictive. You just drive around (slowly, these are tanks after all) blowing up anything that moves. You can run over ground troops, Blow away the structures, slaughter your friends, pretty much anything you ever wanted to do in a tank. However the bad part with this game is that it can get frusterating quickly. For Example, I think its mission 8 for the Alien side in which you must destroy all enemy tanks before dying three times. Well, i got a tank or two picked off before i was suddenly over run and slaughtered, Whats worse is that the tanks then crowded around the respawn points so when i came back i was quickly killed again. Not quite fair if you ask me....

GRAPHICS: The graphics aren't going to break any barriers (what with the XBOX coming out) But the explosions look pretty good. I really like the semi-interactive environments in which you can blow away chunks of wall.

SOUND: The sound fx are really really good in this game. Shooting a cannon sounds close to what it should sound like, only far quieter. (And i have heard real cannons fire). But if you really want to feel the cannon fire, you'll need a jump pack. Of course that means forfitting a microphone...

MUSIC: For some reason the music, especially the menu screen, reminds me of 16 bit gaming music. It has that kind of vibe to it only with better quality. I couldn't be happier with it.

CONTROL: The control is a little different than what you'd expect. The strafing buttons inparticular took a little getting used to. Just hitting them won't move you left or right. You have to hit Forward or Backward with them. Otherwise you'll stand there looking like an idiot as people rain near-instant death on you.

ONLINE PLAY: This feature is what makes the game worth buying. Not only is it fun but you get a ranking system depending on how you play. If you do really good then you'll get a star or two.

BOTTOM LINE: While it has its flaws, its really not a bad game at all. If you have an internet connection for your Dreamcast then buy this game. And while i am going to hate myself for saying it.... This game will give many hours of fun while you wait for the XBOX launch on November 15.
